Oriental rug cleaning

Oriental Rug Cleaning in Los Angeles & Orange County

Hand-knotted Oriental rugs need a slower, gentler process than machine-made rugs. Natural dyes can migrate, cotton foundations can brown, and silk highlights react badly to strong chemistry.

We test every rug for dye stability first and choose the mildest effective method. If a rug is too fragile or unstable to clean safely, we say so.

What's included

  • Pre-inspection photos of existing wear, repairs and color loss
  • Dye-stability testing in several areas
  • Thorough dry-soil removal
  • Wool-safe cleaning with gentle agitation
  • Controlled rinse and extraction
  • Flat, airflow-assisted drying and grooming

Our process and equipment

  1. 1

    Document

We photograph condition, wear and prior repairs before cleaning.

  2. 2

    Test

Dye stability is checked on multiple colors, including any silk accents.

  3. 3

    Dust

Dry soil is removed from the pile and foundation first.

  4. 4

    Wash

Wool-safe chemistry, gentle agitation, minimal mechanical stress.

  5. 5

    Dry

Controlled, airflow-assisted drying to avoid browning and dye migration.

Materials and surfaces we treat

  • Hand-knotted wool Oriental and Persian-style rugs
  • Wool-on-cotton foundations
  • Kilims and flatweaves
  • Rugs with limited silk accents, handled with extra caution

Honest limitations

  • We do not guarantee removal of dye bleed that already exists in a rug.
  • Fragile antique, dry-rotted or previously damaged rugs may not be cleanable safely — we will decline rather than risk your rug.
  • Restoration, re-weaving and appraisal are not services we provide.

How to prepare

  • Tell us the rug's age and origin if you know it
  • Point out any prior cleaning, repairs or home spot treatments
  • Roll pile-side in if you are moving the rug yourself

Pricing

Pricing depends on the size of the area, fiber or material type, soil level, stain treatment and access. Call or text (866) 631-2244 for an exact quote before any work starts — you approve the price first.

FAQ

Oriental rug cleaning questions

Will the colors run?

We test first. If dyes are unstable we adjust the method or advise against wet cleaning entirely.

How long does it take?

Off-site cleaning and controlled drying usually take several days. We confirm the timeline when we pick the rug up.

Do you clean silk rugs?

We handle rugs with limited silk accents with extra caution. Full silk rugs are specialist work — we will tell you honestly if your rug is outside what we do.
